I hit my local Target store for the THIRD time this week for a try-on sesh and I found all the fun, edgy fashion! I love to add a little edge to everything I wear so I figured why not share simple ways to do that with you so its not so intimidating! So this week’s Fitting Room Diaries is full of Edgy Fall Outfits with some fun finds at Target!
Before we proceed, my usual sizing for reference:
I’m 5’3″, weigh about 130lbs and am a 34D.
I usually wear an XS/S in tops and dresses and a 0-2/26 in bottoms.
This sheer turtleneck blouse gives me ALL the 90s vibes! It has a nude cami built-in underneath – remember those tops?!!! This one gives an edgy vibe with the leopard, the mod silhouette and when you tuck it into some high-waisted jeans like these and add a white bootie – its edgy, easy and on trend! I’m wearing a Small in this top and it has some stretch to it so I would stick to your regular size.
Teddy Coats are back again this year bc they’re pretty much the warmest, coziest and on trend coats ever! This one is super affordable, comes in three colors and is the perfect oversize fit. Choosing an outfit underneath with an edgier vibe in slimmer silhouettes will keep this cozy coat from making you look like a bag lady! I’m wearing an XS/S in this coat and its perfect – definitely don’t size up in this one!
This look is a perfect example of how to add some edge to an outfit so you look put together and chic without even trying. The wrong choice of jeans and shoes here can take you to frumpy REAL quick! I chose these cropped slim wide leg jeans and white booties to up the edge here. If you were to choose a pair of Uggs here with your skinny jeans, you’d lose that chic-factor. Now, I have nothing against Uggs, I wear mine all the time, but if you’re trying to look put together, it’ll make a huge difference to leave them at home. This cardigan is super warm and its brushed knit is so soft! I grabbed a Small in this leopard cardigan and a medium in these essential pocket tees that are a great basic to add to your wardrobe for under $10 – I like mine a little loose!
I was just playing around in the fitting room with this look, but decided to include this to show how you could dress down a satin midi skirt! I would do a higher heeled boot here bc I’m short and need the extra height with a look like this. Anyways, you can take a dressy midi skirt like this one and add a simple tee or graphic tee and a cardigan or moto jacket and voila, casual cool edgy vibes! Don’t be afraid to try this out for your next girls night out – I love rockin’ my most adventurous looks when I’m out with my gals bc who will appreciate it more?!! I’m wearing a XS in this midi skirt. It has an elastic waist and the slit hits mid-thigh on me.
Slip dresses are back y’all!! Can you tell I’m a total 90s gal and looooove rockin’ all these styles from my teen years?!! The slip dress is quintessential 90s, but let’s look at a few ways to style it. One way, wear it on its own: just throw a moto jacket on top for your next date night or even a casual wedding! I love the lace detail along the neckline and the straps are adjustable. Next way: throw a slouchy sweater on top like I did here to dress it down a bit! I’m wearing a Small in the sweater and the slip dress here.
Third way to wear this camo slip dress? Throw a slim turtleneck underneath! I think I like this way better, but I’d honestly rock all three! (this turtleneck is not available online yet)
While we’re on the topic of dresses, let’s take a peek at this faux leather dress! I freakin’ love the Who What Wear line bc they bring the trends and edge for an affordable price! Faux leather is everywhere this season so why not try it out with a dress like this one! The a-line shape is so figure flattering, the puff sleeves add some fun and this faux leather is not stiff at all! I’m a busty gal and the buttons don’t gap on this either. PS: if you’re a curvy gal, they also have this in plus sizes! I’m wearing a Small in this dress and the fit is perfect.
Did you really think there would be NO graphic tees?? Come on now! This one is actually on clearance for $10.49 so its a great one to add to your closet. I grabbed a medium for a looser fit in this tee. To keep it casual, I added this fun looped cardigan (not available online yet) and a simple pair of high-waisted jeans with a raw hem. I grabbed a 2 in these jeans and the fit is perfect AND they’re on sale for $15!! Again, choosing the right shoes can dress up the simplest of looks! I’d also rock some cute sneakers with this for the weekend.
To dress this one up a bit, I actually just took the faux leather dress from above and wore it as a cardigan and I mean, how stinkin’ cute is this?!! Just shows you that you can wear some pieces multiple ways when you get creative!
