We’re battling it out today y’all! I even busted out my biggie shirt for this one, even though there’s no contest – east coast for liiiiife! Well, today’s battle has nothing to do with 90s hip hop, its all about lip masks! I have been comparing two uber-popular lip masks to help you decide which one is best for you. I honestly love them both but for different reasons and this quarantine time has helped me really test them both out bc I’m not wearing much lipstick lately. There’s literally nothing worse than putting on lipstick, then putting on a face mask and the whole time you’re wearing it, your mask is sticking to your lips. #firstworldproblems
Well let’s get to the battle gals, tatcha vs. laneige!
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
I purchased the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in November of 2018 – thank goodness for Sephora purchase history, right?? People had been raving about it – Lauryn Evarts especially and I live by her recommendations. It’s only $20 so I decided to give it a shot. I made the rookie mistake of using too much the first time and shared it with Mike. In true guy fashion, he was all dramatic about it, but then liked how much it moisturized his lips.
First impressions of the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: it smells good and a little goes a LONG way. It has a silicone consistency so its not crazy thick and incredibly moisturizing. I love putting this on before bed and waking up to crazy soft lips!
According to the product details, it has:
…a softening balm texture that closely adheres to lips for quick absorption. Enriched with vitamin C and antioxidants, its Berry Mix Complex™ offers a nutritiously sweet and fragrant blend of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, and blueberry extracts to indulge the senses. Its exclusive Moisture Wrap™ technology boasts hyaluronic acid and minerals to form a protective film over the lips to lock in moisture and active ingredients. A generous layer of this soothing mask at bedtime helps reduce flakiness so you can wake up to lips that feel refreshed, supple, and soft to the touch.
Only complaints about this one is it feels like it sits on top of your lips and it never really soaks all the way in.
Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask
Now onto the Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask… One of my favorite instagrammers to follow is things.i.bought.and.liked – seriously, I live for her stories and recommendations. So when she said the Tatcha was better than the Laneige, I HAD to try it.
Well y’all, I’m Team Tatcha!
Don’t get it twisted, I still use the Laneige before bed, but for everyday, daytime use, I love the Tatcha! First of all, I love the little gold spatula. It makes me feel bougie and fabulous. Its consistency is totally different than the Laneige, its a jelly and while the Laneige sits on top of my lips, the Tatcha soaks right in and lasts awhile!
According to the product details, it’s:
…a soothing, non-sticky jelly lip mask of Japanese peach and olive-derived squalane that softens, smooths, and helps restore for visibly plump lips. It contains: Japanese Peach Extract which helps to repair damaged lips, revitalize, and calm irritation; Three Rose Extract which protects from dryness and visibly smoothens for healthier lips and Japanese Camellia Oil (Tsubaki) that seals in moisture and nurtures with of vitamins A, B, D, and E and nourishing omegas 3, 6, and 9—this featherweight botanical oil is richer in oleic acid than olive oil.
I legit have zero complaints about this one as a product, only that its $8 more than the Laneige.
So yes, I’m saying Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask takes this battle for sure. I freakin love smothering this stuff all over my lips and I definitely notice they’re softer and more moisturized!
