skincare faves

 

if you grab anything from this sale, let it be this dr. brandt eye cream!  if you follow me on any social channel, you have heard me rave about this stuff!  I received it for reviewing purposes and ended up LOVING it and I’m literally squeezing every little speck of it out of the tube right now so I can grab more during this sale! you can literally feel it tightening your undereye skin once you apply it!  so. freakin. good!  I also use this exfoliator and its microexfoliating scrub def does the trick without being too abrasive to your skin!

 

I’ve raved about my clairsonic before here, so why not grab one while its on sale?!  I’ve never seen something work to get all the gunk out of my skin any better than this!  if you already own one, stock up on some new brush heads – you DO need to replace those ya know!  I love using this cleanser with my clairsonic – my skin feels super clean afterwards!

 

I love this caudalie serum before using my derm roller to make sure I’m getting some moisture down into my skin and then I follow up with this first aid beauty anti-redness serum after rolling.   another serum I love to use with my roller is this philosophy one – great for firming up aging skin!

 

now for moisturizers, I go with oil-free, gel formulas for my greasy skin like this clinique cult favorite, first aid beauty’s mattifying version, philosophy’s acne treatment/moisturizer for when my skin is acting up (which its doing much less of these days – post coming soon on that!) and hope in a jar for nighttime.

 

lastly, if you hit up this sale, why would you not throw in a few face masks?!!  dr. jart+ has the BEST sheet masks and the sephora brand carries multiple formulas no matter your skin type – this coconut one is a total fave of mine!

 

 

makeup musts

for makeup, let’s start in the order of application so first up…

primers!  is there a primer I haven’t tried?!!  ummm, probably not!
warning tho:  I do have oily skin so these are what work best for my skin but may not work great on dry skin.  check reviews if you’re a dry gal.  I alternate between all of these so my skin doesn’t get used to them (is that a thing?  idk but I tell myself it is, ha!) and let me tell you – the pores legit disappear!

this bare minerals primer is great for blemish-prone skin and mattifies like whoa!  I’ve tried several samples of benefit’s porefessional and its pretty dang good you guys.  this clarins beauty flash balm is legit bomb.  I tried it for the first time in sample form and bought it multiple times after that.  its my ultimate fave for sure, tied with the smashbox primer.  they both feel so nice on my skin, don’t create such a barrier that my skin can’t breathe and the makeup lays really nice over them!  honorable mention would be the laura mercier blemishless primer – its good, works well, but not like knock your socks off great.

 

next up: foundation.
there’s only one option here guys bc after using it for a year now, I’ll never switch to anything else!  estee lauder doublewear for the win.  always.  it covers SO well, matches my skin perfectly and is buildable based on how much coverage you want without being cakey.  same for their concealer.  this waterproof concealer is my J.A.M. and just like its name says, it lasts all day long!

 

I apply my foundation and concealer with a wet beautyblender (the black one is my fave) and if you’re anything like me, I’m pretty sure its time to trash your current one and grab a new one.  I can only imagine whats inside that thing, no matter how many pinterest hacks I try cleaning it with!  so yeah, don’t be grimy, get a new beautyblender.

 

for those days that I don’t feel like “doing” my makeup, I do love laura mercier’s powder foundation for a light coverage so I don’t totally scare my hubs and boys at the sight of my bare face! (kidding.  kind of.)  I used to use bare minerals powder foundation too, but the doublewear takes the cake for me here.

 

laura mercier’s blush in lotus pink is my go-to for sure – such a pretty pink! and for some contouring and highlighting, I LIVE by the anastasia contour kit in light/medium – I blend all three of those bronzers together for the perfect bronze for my skin tone!  (I used to use hoola and love it but once I tried this contour kit, it was au revoir to the hoola!). if you like a cream highlighter, I highly recommend high beam or girl meets pearl, but again, this contour kit does it all.

 

I’ve never met a finishing powder I didn’t like – except for the kat von d formula – it left horrible white shadows while making video with my ring light so that went bye-bye!  so I alternate between the sephora brand, make up for ever’s ultra hd powder, tarte smooth operator and laura mercier’s invisible powder.

 

for the eyes, you gotta start with this urban decay primer, your eye makeup won’t move an inch.  you can’t go wrong with a naked palette (#2 is my fave) or the urban decay individual shadows (I love foxy, sin and smog!).  for mascara, I LOVE the tarteist last paint, marc jacobs major volume and bad gal lash, obv.

 

seal all that makeup in with either all-nighter or de-slick when you’re done!  I prefer de-slick bc of my oil slick face, but both work great!

 

for the lips, I love nars turkish delight (great soft pink) and bare minerals vip (the perfect red!) lip glosses.  for just a hint of color (and spf protection), you can’t go wrong with the sugar lip colors!  sephora debuted some fun #lipstories lipsticks that I’ll be grabbing for sure (especially at only $8!)

 

hair care

now, I’m a HUGE fan of monat, but according to my instastories, you gals wanted some haircare picks so these are some I have tried and loved before becoming a monat devotee!

this hair towel – I SWEAR by it!  like if I go to wash my hair and its not clean, I skip another day – and when you wash every 3-4 days, sometimes that extra day is brutal!  it literally soaks up all of the water in my hair and cuts my dry time significantly!  I got mine in a fab fit fun box and have not stopped using it – its SO good!

 

literally any product from living proof is fantastic, but I used to use the full shampoo, perfect hair day 5-in-1 styling treatment and full thickening cream on the regular.  I like big hair, can you tell??

 

amika makes great products and their dry shampoo and texture spray is no exception!  (when I’m waiting for my next monat dry shampoo delivery, I use the amika! shhh, don’t tell!)

 

bumble and bumble is bomb.com and my faves is the surf spray (obv) and the sunday shampoo which is a great clarifying shampoo – and can be used on days other than sunday 😉

these two items are must-have’s and I’ll be restocking them of course!

nirvana black is my absolute fave perfume ever, I’ve been wearing it since it debuted!  I love its musky/vanilla notes – sooooo good!

 

with summer coming up, these uber-pale legs need some color!  this st tropez self-tanner is my ultimate fave and isn’t streaky or orange at all!  the color develops quickly and looks SO natural! I do insist if you grab this that you get the mitt as well – it really helps with even application!
