ah, a new year.
you know all the sayings:
“new year, new you”
“a new beginning”
“day 1 of 365”
a new year gives you a new chance to do things different and with that, this gal makes her list of resolutions (or new habits to adopt) and grabs the necessities to do it.
so here’s my list of things and how i’m going to “2018” – yes, totally making this year a verb…
first off, you need a good planner.
whether it be something like this or this, or a super pretty one that you just HAVE to record every event for the year in, just make sure you grab at least one planner to keep your life on track. i know, i also have my iPhone calendar, but there’s just something about an actual paper planner that makes this gal’s heart skip a beat.
next, a mug.
one of my resolutions this year is to read more.
how am i going to do that in the midst of the 12,000 things on my ever growing to-do list?
well, the plan is: each morning when i wake up (no later than 6am bc that’s another resolution), i will make my bed (resolution #3), drink a large glass of water (#4), start the coffee (we love our ninja), throw in a load of laundry (resolution #5), unload the dishwasher (#6), pour said coffee into a super cute mug like this, this or this and curl up on the couch, in the peace and quiet, and read one chapter every morning.
i don’t think one chapter a morning is too hard, right?!
i’m currently almost finished this book in less than a week (i started on the 26th) and i have this one on deck and this one for book club. yes, i realize some of these books aren’t new, but they’ve been collecting dust on my nightstand for a year or so and something needs to be done about it already!
next up, new beauty essentials.
i always start the year off with a new bottle of my favorite perfume and luckily my fab mother-in-law always gifts it to me 🙂 i also like to grab a fresh tube of my fave everyday lipstick (in color “affluent’) and a new beautyblender bc lord knows what’s actually inside that thing after a year of use, no matter how many pinterest hacks you try to clean it…
then, get healthy.
everyone’s year usually starts off with some sort of “health kick”
mine isn’t so extreme, its simply to drink more water and this water bottle will totally help me do that as well as cooking more which leads to eating out less. no better time to pick up some new cookbooks then, am i right?! i grabbed this, this and this.
simple touches.
i love receiving handwritten thank you cards so i’m making an effort to send more of them myself. when you find pretty ones like this, how can you not?!!
embrace the cozy.
lastly, after reading this book and still trying to figure out how to pronounce “hygge,” i’m embracing it full force with these supersoft pj pants that pretty much every blogger has shared, a warm pair of slipper socks for these ridiculously frigid temps lately, a ton of these candles and my favorite tea to wind down before bed.
so there’s my “how to 2018” guide.
will i stick to all of my resolutions? who knows, but at least i’ll try!
xo, jillian
